THE IMMIGRANTS BY THE DOUGLAS.
The immigrants by The Douglas, consisting of 465 souls, equal to 369£ statute adults, comprise 157 male adults, 143 female do., 70 male children, G 9 female do., and 20 infants. The nationalities of the adult laborers are : —England, 115 males, 3G females ; Scotland, 14 males, 14 females ; Ireland, 1G males, 10 females; Wales, 2 males; Channel Islands (Jersey), 1 male ; France, 2 males. Of tho 4G5 souls in the ship, 317 are English, 32 Scotch, 43 Irish, 9 Welßh, 2 Channel Islanders, and 8 Frenchmen. The occupations of the male adults are classified as follows :—Land Farm laborers, 39 ; gardeners, 9 ; general servants, 39 ; miners, 0 ; navvies, 3 ; ploughman, 1. Stock—butcher, .1 ; shepherd, 1. Wood—cabinetmaker, 1 ; -carpenters, 1G ; millwright, 1 ; sawyers, 2 ; wheelwright, 1. Iron, &c, — blacksmiths, 6 ; fitter, 1 ; general smiths,. 4. Brick and Stone—bricklayers, 2 ; brickmaker, 1 ; mason, 1 ; plasterers, 2. Leather—shoemakers, 3. Miscellaneous—l baker, 1 coachpainter, 1 engine-cleaner, 3 painters, 1 platelayer, 1 schoolmaster, 1 stationmaster, 1 tailor. The female adults consist of 3 cooks, 4 dairymaids, 29 general servants, 2 housekeepers, 4 housemaids, 3 laundresses, 3 nurses, 1 parlormaid, 1 rag-sorter. , The adult laborers of both sexes number 200, the rest of the immigrants consisting of their families.
