NEW ZEALAND TRAVEL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —I wish to call attention to the way in which the N.Z.S.S. Co. treat through passengers to Napier at Wellington, the port of transhipment. On the 10th instant I booked through, per Ladybird, from Lyttelton. When out at sea, the purser took my ticket from me, and gave me a duplicate, across which he wrote, in red ink, “to pay own expenses at port of transhipment.” What I chiefly complain of is, that I was not told at Lyttelton that I should have to pay my own expenses at Wellington, otherwise I should simply have booked here, and should then have had an opportunity of reaching my destination by other means. Perhaps some one more competent than I am will enlighten the public as to the likelihood of being detained in Wellington at their own expense. Further, I would suggest that the company advertise the arrival and departure of their steamer from here in the Southern papers. Apologising for occupying your valuable space..—Yours, &c., A Novice. Wellington, October 20. [“A Novice” should notice that the exceptionally severe weather of late has interfered materially with the punctuality of the steamers, which is usually observed most particularly. A little personal inconvenience, and even expense, may be borne with under the circumstauces.]
