The Pera having been telegraphed at Adelaide six days before due necessitated the Albion leaving for the Bluff on the same day as the Tararua for Hokitika. Mr. Vogel at once arranged with McMeckan, Blackwood and Co., who offered every facility, that the Tararua should take the Westland, Nelson, Wellington, Taranaki, Marlborough, and Hawke’s Bay mails, and that the mails for Otago and Canterbury should go by the Albion.
