POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: — For Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, Manukau, jier s.s. Taranaki, on Friday, at 1 p.m. For America, West Indies, and Europe, (via San Francisco), per s.s. Wellington, on Tuesday, 27th inst., at noon. For Castle Point, Napier, and Poverty Bay, per s.s. Rangatira, this day, at 4 p.m. For America, West Indies, and Europe (via Suez, for specially addressed letters only), on Saturday, 24th inst., at 7 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Wellington, on Friday, at 3 p.m. Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Gothenburg is expected to leave Hokitika at 11 a.m. this day (Thursday). Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe via Java cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Office for transmission to Melbourne up till 9 a.m. of the 15th inst.
