EDUCATION BOARD OF THE PROPUBLIC NOTICE. The following extracts from the Education Amendment Act, 1874, which came into force on the Ist September last, are published for general information : The Wellington Education Act Amendment Act, 1874. "Sec. 7. The person being the father or (if the father be dead) the mother or the guardian or acting as the guardian of every child attending any school established under the said Act shall pay to the Board on the Ist day of June the first day of September the' first day of December and the first day of March in each year the sum of five shillings for every such child attending such school Provided that no one person shall be required to pay for more than three such children. Provided further that it shall be : lawful for the Board upon the recommendation of any local committee appointed as hereinafter provided to exempt any person from such payment or any portion thereof on account of poverty or otherwise. "Sec. 8. It shall be lawful for any person duly authorised by the Board in that behalf to ask demand receive sue for and recover from the parents or guardians of the children attending any school established under the said Act the school fees in the last preceding section authorised and such school fees shall when collected be paid over to the Treasurer of the Board or be accounted for to the satisfaction of the Board."
