Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows : For New Plvmouth and Manukau, per s.s. Luna, this day. at 9 a.m. For San Francisco, per St. Leonards, this day, at 11 a.m. (for specially addressed letters only). For Napier, Castlcpoint and Poverty Bay, per s.s. Rangatira, on Monday, at 4 p.m. For AVanganui, per p.s. Manawatu, this day, at 4 p.m. For Nelson, Westport, Grcymouth, Hokitika, and Australia, per s.s. Albion, this day, at 4 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s Ladybird, on Saturday, at 1 p.m. Edward D. Bun's, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Tararua is expected to leave the Bluff at 11 a.m. on Thursday, the Ist October (to-day). Telegrams for the Australian Colonies, or Europe via Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Office for transmission to Melbourne up to 9 a.m.
