Wednesday, September 30. Present :—The President. Clergy : Archdeacon Stock, Rev. B. W. Harvey, Eev. Jas. MeWilliain, Rev. W. Ballachey, Rev. A. Twogood, Rev. T. Fancourt, Rev. H. W. St. Hill. Laity: Dr. Kemp, Messrs. H. Sewell, G. Allan, C. P. Powle3, E. Pearce, A. Xrudlam, T. Buchanan, and R. Hunter. The minutes of the former day were read and confirmed. The report of the Select Committee on the Consolidation of Trusts was read by the Chairman, and the Standing Committee of the Diocese was directed to take the steps required. Moved by T. Buchanan, Esq., and seconded ly Archdeacon Stock—" That the district uouth of Mount Egmont, heretofore in the Diocese of Auckland, form part of the Diocese of "Wellington ; the district named, and the General Synod having given the necessary consent." Carried. Mr. SjsWELL called the attention of the Synod to a Bill introduced into the General Synod for settling a rule of the Church to be used in any possible alteration of the Church Services and Formularies, and the authorised version of the Holy Scriptures ; and proposes that the Bill should be considered at a future session of the Synod. Moved by the Rev. H. W. St. Hill, seconded by Mr. Quick —" That Archdeacon Stock, Rev. T. Fancourt, Rev. B. W. Harvey, Rev. B. K. Taylor, E. Pearce, Esq., T. Buchanan, Esq., A. Ludlam, Esq., and Capt. Robinson, be the assessors of the Diocese, to hold office for three years." Carried. Moved by the Rev. B. W. Harvey, seconded by T. Buchanan, Esq.—" That every parish or district shall, within fourteen days after the expiration of every quarter, dating from the 30th day of June in each year, send a written statement to the Standing Committee of the amount paid to the clergyman during that quarter. Should the payment made appear to the Standing Committee insufficient, or should the written statement not be sent, the Committee shall signify the same to the Archdeacon, who shall, if necessary, visit such district, and personally enquire into it 3 circumstances and the best means of providing for the clergyman." Carried. Moved by the Rev. B. W*. Harvey, seconded by the Rev. H. W. St. Hill—" That the Synod recommend that, in churches where the system obtains of letting or appropriating tho seats, the time for filling up vacant seats be so fixed as to allow of strangers and others who are not seat-holders joining in the whole service." Withdrawn. Moved by the Rev. B. W. Harvey, seconded by H. Sewell, Esq.—" That the church collections on Easter Day are to be regarded as an Easter offering, and handed over to the curate." Carried. Moved by the Rev. B. W. Harvey, seconded by Mr. Allen, —"That in every church or licensed place of worship throughout the Diocese, where there is a weekly service, the following spec'.al offertories shall be made, and at the following dates, viz. : For the Melanesian Mission, on the last Sunday in February ; for the Maori Mission, on the last Sunday in May ; for the Diocesan Fund, on the last Sunday in August; for the Pension Fund, on the last Sunday in November. In churches where there ia service only on alternate Sundays, the special offertories shall be made on the Sunday following the one before-mentioned in each case, should there be no service on tho day appointed."—Carried. Moved by the Eev. T. Fancourt, seconded by Mr. Powles, —" That, in accordance with Statute XVI. of the General Synod, a Board be established for the xmrpose of considering the general fitness for the Ministry of persons who may desire to become candidates for deacons' orders ; to consist of Archdeacon Stock, the Rev. H. W. St. HilL E. Pearce, Esq., T. Buchanan, Esq."—Carried. Moved by Mr.PowLE3, Seconded by the Rev. Ja3. McWilliam, —"That a Standing Committee be appointed, to consist of Archdeacon Stock, the Revs. B. W. Harvey, H. W. St. Hill, T. Fancourt, W. H. Quick, Esq., R. Hunter, Esq., E. Pearce, Esq., J. G. Allan, Esq., T. Buchanan, Esq., G. Allen, Esq., C. P. Powlea, Esq., and H. Sewell, Esq."—Carried. Notices of taction were given by Mr. Buchanan, Dr. Kemp, Mr. Powlea, Archdeacon Stock, Mr. Sewell, and the Rev. B. W. Harvey. The Synod then adjourned.
