BOATING —THE COMING SEASON.
TO'THE EDITOR. - Sir, —Now that the Wellington Rowing Club has published a statement of its affairs for the past year, showing the club to be in a healthy state, after having to contend with many difficulties, both financial and otherwise, I may be permitted to remark that this is a very happy state of things, and speaks well for the energy and pluck of the managing .committee.' When it Is taken into account that this club was started only three years ago by about half-a-dozen sanguine individuals, who had every faith in. bringing.it to its present 'proud position, they may fairly,be complimented orr bringing ' about a success ;, and although the'principal members of the club are only mechanics, what.it has done will bear favorable .comparison with the work of any similar club in the Colony. Though unfortu-
nate at the last two interproviuchil regattas, the members and their friends (who are legion) are not despondent, hut intend to persevere and PULL over every obstacle, until they bring the colours of the club to the fore and win the aquatic blue ribbon. They are confident that they have men and material equal to the task. Seeing that ten now members joined on Wednesday evening, there is very little doubt but that there will be a large addition to the club a number of members ns the boating season commences. The committee offer every inducement and accommodation, and it is to bo hoped that the young men of this City will duly appreciate the opportunity by enrolling themselves as members of the club, —I am, &c., Member, W.R.C.
