OFFICE : Willis Street (two doors above the JYciv Zealand Times office), Wellington. - The following example will illustrate the practical advantages and working of this Society. A member purchases a house for £2OO, for which he had paid a rent of 12s. per week, or £3l 4s. Cd. per annum. He pays £SO of the purchase-money, and borrows £l5O from this Society, to be repaid in six years. His weekly payment is now 12s. Cd.—or £32 10s. per annum, which multiplied by six (the number of years for which ho borrows) is : £195 0 0 The rent of his house for six years would have been ... ... 187 4 0 Balance... ... ... 7 10 0 To which, add the amount he paid 50 0 0 The actual cost of the house is only ... ... ... . ... £57 1G 0 It will at once fee seen that a profit of £142 4s, is made by the purchaser becoming a member of this Society, and that tliis amount would have been lost to him, had he not become a member but remained a tenant. When it is considered that, for the short term of six years, the small sum of only sixpence per week in addition to the rent ; and for a longer term the rent itself, or even far less ; is sufficient to purchase the property, it is evident that this Society will confer great benefits on all who become Borrowing Members. While the payment of rent, even for a life time, confers no title upon the tenant, the payment of the same amount into this Society gives the member, in a few years, the absolute Freehold. Nothing further need be said to prove the extremely liberal principles on which this Society is founded. The following is the scale of weekly payments : INVESTING TABLE. 250 300 350 400 450 500 550 000 0 2 00 2 0 5 0 0 4 0 8 30 0 0 11 0 0 8 0 13 9 0 10 0 1C CO 12 0 19 3io 14 ! 0 0 10 : 9 0 18 17 010 d. £ b. < 00 1 00 3 0,0 4 00 0 00 7 00 0 0 0 10 0 0 12 0 0 13 0 0 15 0 0 1C 0 0 IS i 0 3 • 7 C i 8 0 • 10 0 | 11 3 'l2 0 t 13 9 i 15 0 REALISING TABLE Scale of Repayments.
