PORT CHALMERS. September 12.—Arrived, 10.30 a.m., Taranaki, from Lyttelton; Glencoe, barque, from Hobart Town ; Woodviße, barque, from Newcastle; Vision, brig, from Auckland ; Bunker Hill, sliip, at the Heads. Sailed: Dunedin, ship, for London ; Sam Mendel, ship, for Melbourne. Thes.s. Napier sailed for Foxton yesterday morning, but on getting off the lighthouse Captain Butt found the gale too severe, and put back to tho wharf to wait until the weather moderates. The barque Cneverte sailed for Newcastle on Saturday. The s.s. ‘Wellington, which sailed northwards on Saturday, took 87 immigrants, 43 of whom are for Taranaki, 37 for the West Coast, and the remainder for Nelson and Picton. The Ladybird arrived on Saturday morning from the North, after a fair passage, and sailed again southwards in the afternoon. The Eangatira arrived from Napier on Saturday afternoon, having left that port at 4 a.m. the previous day. She experienced a strong M.W. gale, with heavy head sea, during which the main and fore trysails were split. The Superintendent of Auckland announces in the Provincial Gazette -that he has appointed Captain Joseph Kennedy to be Pilot of the port of Poverty Bay.
