At the Hibernian Society’s Anniversary yesterday, Bather Donegan, who had been requested to preach a special sermon to the members, accordingly proceeded to the chapel, but the reverend gentleman preached them no sermon, but rated them soundly, and said he disowned them as a Catholic Society, some members not having attended to their spiritual duties for years. He also condemned the parade of the society, aud their design to celebrate the anniversary by a soiree dansante. Wanganui, Monday. There is a strong reaction against altering the design of the railway bridge, as it is feared that the delay will risk the construction of the railway, and that opening the bridge would increase the risk.
