[Peess Telegraph Agency,] "■ Poet Chalmers, Saturday. The ship Parsee, from Glasgow, brings 444 souls, equal to 3324 statute adults, who are the first batch of Mr. James Adams’s selection. The ship had a great deal of trouble on the voyage. There were about two hundred casesmeasles, besides diarrhoea and other troubles, which commenced fourteen days after leavingThere ■■ were: fourteen deaths (two of which were adults) and three births. The ship Tweed was towed into harbor last night. She brings 639 souls, equal to 5214 statute adults. She had thirteen deaths ; the diseases were diarrhoea, measles, mesenteric disease, brain fever, convulsions, consumption, and whooping cough, which is now had. She is a splendid ship ; was seventy days from port to port. New Plymouth, Saturday. The acceptance ef a seat in the Ministry by Major Atkinson is well received and generally approved of here. The trout ova are being hatched. The fish are lively. Auckland, Saturday. The Miltiades salvage claim has been, settled by the consignees paying £1314, and the ship, £482. The award of £1625 to the steamer Lady Bowen is divided as follows : Casey, £943 ; legal expenses, £125 ; Owen Graham, £Bl 5s ; crew of s.s. Lady Bowen, £475. Tadranga, Saturday. Tenders are invited for the erection of a large public hall for the Tauranga Good Templars. -j
