[PItESS TELEGRATH AGENCV.] Auckland, Thursday. There is a crowded meeting at the Choral Hall to-night, to consider Mr. Vogel's resolutions. Nearly all the leading men of the city are'present, the Mayor presiding. Mr. J. 0. Firth is now proposing the first resolution, as follows :—" That in the opinion of this meeting, the proposals embodied in Mr. Vogel's resolutions for abolishing the North Island Provinces, are unjust and impolitic.'' The motion is to be seconded by Mr. Rees. The following resolutions have been arranged by an Executive Committee, to be proposed : Captain Daldy to move, —"That in the opinion of this meeting, the time has arrived when, for the good government and credit of the Colony, the Provincial system should be abolished, and the land revenue become Colonial revenue." To be seconded by Mr. McMillan, of Macarthur, Sherard, and Co. Mr. Ireland to move—" That the resolution be forwarded to the Auckland members, with a request- that they support these views." To be seconded by Mr. Holdship. The schooner Onward has gone ashore at Tairua. She was owned by Mr. J. W. Waller, and insured in the New Zealand office. Napier, Thursday. The Church of England bazaar, which closed last night, resulted in ah addition of .£SOO to the church building fund. The IlavSkc's Bay Herald supports the resolutions for abolishing Provincialism. The advent of the Opera Company is postponed for a week. Donedin, Thursday.
A public meeting will be held at Port Chalmers to-morrow, in re the Provincial abolition resolutions, and to strengthen Mr. Macandrew's hands.
A sale of unreclaimed sections in the Bayyesterday reached £16,600, the highest amount ever received for one day's sale in this Province. Lyttelton, Thursday. The passengers by the steamer Atrato numbered ninety-one souls. The Balloclimyle and Northampton remain in port, wind-bound. Mr. K, H. Khodes and his family are passengers by the Balloclimyle. Oajiaru, Thursday. The public here unanimously approve of Mr. Steward's action in supporting the Premier's resolutions regarding the abolition of the North Island Provinces. Nelson, Thursday. The s.s. Omeo arrived off the Boulder Bank at 4 p.m. yesterday, having encountered in the Strait a terrific north-west gale and sea, which moderated after entering the French Pass.
