A valuable addition to the thoroughbred stock of this Colony has arrived by the s.s. Omeo, in the fine chesnut colt Gladiator, imported from England to Melbourne, where he was sold as a yearling for 450 guineas. He has since been bought for Mr. John Shield, of Wanganui, where ho now goes. Gladiator has already been described in these columns. He is by Gladiateur (winner of the Derby, St. Ledger, and Grand Prix de Paris), out of Nuncia, hy Nuncio, out of Fatima by Elis. The steamer Alhambra is cow expected tt» leave the Bluff at 11 a.m. to-day. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe via Java cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph office for transmission to Melbourne up tiE 10 a.m.
