0 The import trade of the past week has shown evident signs of improvement, anda'large amount of business ha 3 been done. Hennessey's and Marten's brandies In quarters have changed hands at lis. 6d. per gallon, but prices have since become somewhat easier by Cd. per gallon. Case brandies remain unaltered at 325. to 325. Cd. per case. Other brands are somewhat lower. Bisquit Dubouche, Os. per gallon for bulk, and 255. 6d. for case. Bum, 30 per cent 0.p., in fair demand at 4s. Cd. per gallon. In teas importers have been pushing off their,stocks of last season's teas, and Beveral trade lots have been cleared at fair values. Sugars remain dull, with no transactions of any moment to report. First counters are quoted at £44 10s. Counter, at £4l to £42; and yellows, at £37 to £3B per ton, d.p. Kerosene stocks are exhausted ; and, pending the arrival of the Marion, dally expected, prices have advanced to 2s. 4d. to Zs. sd. per gallon. . Cement is in active demand at 21s. to 225. per barrel, for Portland. "We report the sale of a consignment of 500 barrels in one line at about that figure. Candles are quieter, but prices are steadily maintained at IOJd. to lOgd. per lb. One or two large shipments of salt have been received, and upwards of SO tons of fine salt have been quitted at 05s. per ton. There is little improvement in Colonial produce. Flour continues low, and sales of Oamaru brands in sacks have been made at £l3 23. Gd. per ton for baker's parcels. Canterbury brands are quoted at £l2 10s. to £12155. per ton. Oats arc low in stock, and are selling at ss. to ss. 3d. per bushel [for good feed—several cargoes are advised as on their way from Lyttelton. Butter in kegs is worth Is. to Is. Id. per lb., with very little trade doing. Cheese, wanted, worth BJd. per lb. Potatoes scarce, and in demand at £5 10s. to £6 per ton.
