WRITTEN TENDERS will be received at this office up to NOON on Wednesday, 23rd September, 1874, for the above CONTRACT, the length being about 25 miles 32'30 chains. They must be addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, Wellington, and marked outside, "Tender, Mataura Contract." Plans and specifications may be seen at this Office, and at the Public Works Offices, Dunedin and Invercargil. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any telegraph office by NOON of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at a' District or Resident Engineer's Office by the same hour. The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted. N.B.—Every tenderer must enclose a priced schedule of work made out on a proper printed form, which will be supplied to persons tendering by the Engineer in charge. Notice is hereby given that 47,000 acres, more or less, of Crown Lands, divided into Suburban and Rural Sections; situated in the PARAE-KARETU BLOCK, West Coast, and distant ten miles from the township of Marton, Upper Rangitikei, will be sold by public auction, at this office, on or about Ist September. The Parae-Karetu Block, hereafter to be called, "The Township of Hunter," ia easily accessible both from Wanganui and Rangitikei.
