Murray was unable to call for the Taranaki English mails, owing to stress of weather. The Star publishes the statement that the Government Engineer has visited the king country on secret business. Lttielton, Wednesday. The s.s. Beautiful Star, whilst towing the Ballochmoyle, parted the wrapping on the tow-line, the warp striking Capt. Hart, and breaking both his legs. It is feared that amputation of one limb will be necessary. Dunedin, Wednesday. In the Supreme Court, to-day, before Judge Chapman, Air. James Smith moved for a rule nisi, calling upon James Alaoassey, plaintiff in Alacassey v. Bell,'to show cause why he should not answer complaints in connection with the jmblication of a letter in the Times, in reference to the case, and to the Judge’s order about the production of telegrams. A rule nisi was granted. Poet Chalmers, Wednesday. A seal ten feet long was caught at the Heads to-day. Bluff, Wednesday. The wreck of the Carl has been bought by Air. Broderick for £6O.
