HEMATITE being a PEROXIDE of IRON, is naturally the best preserver of Iron, whereas paints composed of lead, zinc, or copper, by the galvanic action, eats into it, causing it to become honeycombed. This PAINT readily combines with the TANNIN, and enters freely into the pores of wood, more so than any other paint, rendering it INVALUABLE as a PRIMING COAT or foundation for all other paints. It is being extensively used for STEAMBOATS and IRON VESSELS, preventing rust and the growth of seaweeds. For Wheelwrights, Coachmakers, &c., it makes a splendid finish ; also for agricultural implements and farm buildings, as it covers a much larger surface than its equivalent in lead, at a less cost.
