WALLACE, auctioneer, of Hunter Street, Wellington, has received instructions to sell by auction, without reserve, for the benefit of whom it may concern,—• The Paddle-steamer PATERSON, 260 tons, official No. 32,292, Britishbuilt, schooner-rigged, 120 horsepower, two engines, as she now lies wrecked in the Waitara River, Province of Taranaki, with boats, anchors, fittings, rigging, machinery, &c, &c. The lot docs not include the articles to be sold at Waitara, as mentioned below ; or any part of the cargo of the ship which is reserved to the vendors, who will be entitled to the same on paying to the purchaser the reason, able cost of recovering the same, or any part thereof. The Cabin Furniture, Linen, &c, will be sold separately, at Waitara, on MONDAY, the 27th of JULY instant. The Sale will take place, at my Auction Mart, on MONDAY, the 27th of JULY instant, at NOON. TENDERS will be received up to the 25th JULY, 187-1, for the CARTAGE of FIFTEEN TONS, more or less, of TELEGRAPH MATERIAL, between Wellington and Masterton, the material to be laid at points along the present line of telegraph, in such quantities a 3 may hereafter be directed. Tenders endorsed " Tenders for Cartage Telegraph Material," to be sent in not later than the 25th July, and to state time required for completion of the work. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of £25, as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer should he refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted. The TELEGRAPH COMMISSIONER is prepared to RECEIVE TENDERS for the SUPPLY and DELIVERY of FIVE HUNDRED (500) TELEGRAPH POLES, more or less, for a line of Telegraph between the Town of Foxton and the Town of Palmerston North. The poles to be sawn from the heart of totara. The poles to be of the following dimensions : rr 1„ q ve (25) and twenty (20) feet long ons hereinafter to be determined, but the greater portion will be twenty (20) feet long, to be eight (8) inches square at the butt, and six (G) inches square at the top. The poles to be sound, straight, and free from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B.— No pole will be accepted which contains the least sap or speckled timber, and should any pole be brought on to the ground not in accordance with the specification, the same will be cut in v.olf prior to being rejected. " 3oles will have to be delivered at points than four (4) chains apart, along a line of telegraph to be hereafter more particularly indicated by pegs, which will follow, as a rule, along the present tramway from Foxton to Palmerston north. The delivery of the poles to commence on the Ist September, 1874, and the whole to be d within three (3) months of the date of signing the contract, under a penalty of five <ZS) pounds per diem for every day beyond the me specified, which penalty will be recoveraole from the contractor from any sums that may be, or become, due to him under his contract. Progress payments will be made at the rate of eighty (80) per cent, as the works advance, the balance on completion of contract. The contractor will not be allowed to let or sub-let his contract without the consent in writing of the Telegraph Commissioner, or of the person authorised by him to act on his behalf. Tenders are to specify the price per pole as Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of fifty pounds (£SO) as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer, should he refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted. Each tender must include the names of two sureties for approval, who are willing to become bond for the due performance of the contract in the event of the tender being accepted, and nuist be accompanied by a notification to the effect, signed by the two proposed sureties. Tenders endorsed, "Tender for the Supply of five hundred (500) Poles, more or less, for Telegraph Lines between Foxton and Palmerston North," and addressed "The General Manager, Telegraph Department, Wellington," must be sent in not later than the Ist August By order of the Telegraph Commissioner, C.
