TENDERS will be received np to the 25th JULY, 1874, for the CARTAGE of FIFTEEN TONS, more or less, of TELEGRAPH MATERIAL, between Wellington -and Masterton, the material to be laid at points along the present line of telegraph, in such quantities as may hereafter be directed. Tenders endorsed “ Tenders for Cartage Telegraph Material,” to be sent in not later than the 25th July, and to state time required for completion of the work. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of £25, as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer should he refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted. The TELEGRAPH COMMISSIONER is prepared to RECEIVE TENDERS for the SUPPLY and DELIVERY of FIVE HUNDRED (500) TELEGRAPH POLES, more or less, for a line of Telegraph between the Town of Foxton and the Town of Palmerston North. The poles to be sawn from the heart of totani. The poles to be of the following dimensions : | —Twenty-five (25) and twenty (20) feet long 1 in proportions hereinafter to be determined, , but the greater portion will be twenty (20) feet , long, to be eight (8) inches square at the butt, and six (G) inches square at the top. The poles to be sound, straight, and free ! from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B.— No pole i will he accepted which contains the least sap or ; speckled timber, and should any pole be ' brought on to the ground not in accordance with the specification, the same will be cut in half prior to being rejected. The poles will have to be delivered at points not less than four (4) chains apart, along a line of telegraph to be hereafter more particularly indicated by pegs, which will follow, as a rule, along the present tramway from Foxton to Palmerston north. The delivery of.the poles to commence on the Ist September, 1874, and the whole to be delivered within three (3) months of the date of signing the contract, under a penalty of five (£5) pounds per diem for every clay beyond the time specified, which penalty will be recoverable from the contractor from any sums that may be, or become, due to him under his contract. Progress payments will be made at the rate of eighty (80) per cent, as the works advance, the balance on completion of contract. The contractor will not be allowed to let or siib-let his contract without the consent in writing of the Telegraph Commissioner, or of the person authorised by him to act on his behalf. Tenders are to specify the price per pole as per sizes given. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of fifty pounds (£SO) as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer, should he refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted. Each tender must include the names of two ; sureties for approval, who are willing to become bond for the due performance of the contract in the event of the tender being accepted, and must be accompanied by a notification to the effect, signed by the two proposed sureties. Tenders endorsed, “Tender for the Supply of five hundred (500) Poles, more or less, for Telegraph Eines between Foxton and Palmerston North,” and addressed “ The General Manager, Telegraph Department, Wellington, ’ must be sent in not later than the Ist August next. OF CROWN Notice is hereby given that 47,000 acres, more or less, of Crown Lands, dividend into Suburban and Rural Sections'; situated in the PARAE-KARETU BLOCK, West Coast, and distant ten miles from the township of Marton, Upper Rangitikei, will be sold hy public auction, at this office, on or about Ist September. The Parae-Karotu Block, hereafter to he called, “Tho Township of Hunter,” is easily accessible both from Wanganui and Rangitikei. Part of the land is covered with open bush, while that in the Pourewa Valley and also on tho Turakma side consists of level country. Further information will ho given in future advertisements. JOS.
