[Poess Teleokaph Agency.] Auckland, Saturday. | A brick store, with a wooden building attached, belonging to Olson, manufacturer of tomato sauce, was burned early this morning. The fire was first observed coming through the lower windows. Nothing could be done to save the premises, which were completely i burned out. The store was filled with sauce and botiles. The stock and premises were insured in the New Zealand office for £2OOO, and in the Eoyal for £IOOO. Dissatisfaction is expressed that the writ for the election for the district of Waitemata has not been received as yet, though the vacancy was gazetted on the 12th of June. Last year's Customs revenue was £190,464. Sunday. The barque James Wishart, from London and Plymouth, arrived this morning, after a passage of 102 days. She brings 207 immigrants. There were nine deaths of children during the voyage. The others are well. The ship Queen of Nations arrived later from Liverpool and Belfast, 103 days out. Three deaths occurred, She brings 367 immigrants, all well. Gisahamstown, Saturday. The gold lodged in the Bank of New Zealand during the week amounted to 1300ozs. Several large parcels aro expected to-night. The Manukau contributes 850oza, and will send in from 400ozs. to 500ozs. more to-night ; all from crushing of general stuff. A crushing has been commenced of two tons of atone, which aro expected to yield 150ozs. or moro. This mine (the Manukau) could have been purchased for five hundred pounds some months ago. Its market valuo at the present time is £72,000. The Borough Council have despatched a petition for presentation to the General Assembly, praying for additional representation for the Thames district. The petition is about a chain in length, and contains two thousand signatures. Gkkyjiooth, Saturday. The steamer Waipara has been successfully launched off tho beach into tho lagoon this
morning. She goes hence to Wellington for overhaul, and afterwards to load pipes for Hokitika. Duxedin, Saturday. A large fire occurred in Princes Street this morning at A. E. Hay's, draper. The cause is unknown, but supposed to be a defective stove. No one was on the premises. The building was gutted. Hogg and Hutton's was threatened, but only damaged by water. The following are the insurances : —-Hay's building—ln South British, £IOOO ; Liverpool, London, and Globe, £IOOO ; London and Lancashire, £SOO ; doubtful. Stock: Australian Alliance, £IOOO Victoria, £IOOO. Hogg and Hutton's damage is covered by an insurance of £IOOO in the Norwich Union. The fire brigade worked splondidly.
