THE BOATING CLUBS.

FANCY DRESS BALL. Last night a fancy dress ball was given in the Theatre Royal, under the auspices of the Star and Union Boating Clubs. It was well patronised, notwithstanding strong counterattraction. Dancing began between eight and nine o’clock to the music of an excellent band. The large room, though not at all crowded or incommoded by a press of people, was yet fairly filled ; and no doubt those present greatly preferred to have it so, remembering the unhappy effects to dresses and bouquets, which attended the crowded ball given by the members of Parliament last session. The supper was provided with taste and liberality. Another entertainment of a similar kind, it is rumored, will be given before long.
