TIMARU. The Timaru Herald of June 22 says;—There has been but very little doing in grain during _ tho week, and prices remain unchanged, best wheat being quoted at 4s. 4d., oats at 4s. 2d., and barley at 4s. lid. for malting. Shippers are still complaining of the want of vessels to convey wheat away, some stores being very full, but there seems no prospect at present of the want being supplied. CHRISTCHURCH. Of the import market, the Times reports : —Business has been below the average this week, partly owing to the unfavorable state of the weather. _ The balance of the Yarravilie sugars was offered again on Thursday, but an almost total absence of buyers led to the withdrawal of the lot. The descriptions of sugar were unsuited to our trade. There is a steady demand for Mauritius crystals of fine quality, say white £33 to £33 103.; yellows, £33 to £3O. No fresh supplies can reacii us before September or October. Several sales of brandy have been made; but, although present holders ask Its. for Henncssy’s pale, in bulk, none has yet changed hands at over IDs. Dd.: Marteli’s dark is quoted at 10s. Gd. to IDs. 9d. There is little doing in case brandy, and stocks are fully up to present wants ; Hennessy’s is quoted at 335. Genova is in very limited supply, and prices are firm, without improvement in price. Whisky and rum are both dull, but stocks are light. Kerosene has t been offering very freely to land, and onr market will be fully stocked by the arrival of 2000 to 3000 cases, due here in a few days : old supplies have nearly run out.
