COMMERCIAL.

AUCKLAND. The Southern Cross reports:—ln the breadstuff's market we have no change to notice. Generally speaking the market is not so firm as last reported. Auckland flour, at the mills, Is still quoted at £l6 for superfine, and £l4 for household per ton. Adelaide Hour and wheat are out of the market. Southern flour rules from £l4 to £l4 10s. per ton. Auckland wheat is getting scarce, and is worth Gs. Od. ; Southern, Gs. 3d. to Cs. Sd. for good samples. Bran, 2s. In feeding grains we notice receipts of only some GOO bags maize per Hero. The steamer was nearly filled up in Melbourne, and shipments of maize that would otherwise have been made in Sydney were thus shut out. The market is very bare, and the price consequently stands higher than could bo maintained with better supplies. Two vessels have been chartered in Sydney to bring on needed shipments of maize and bonedust. The first of these—the Camille—left that jiort for Auckland on the 30th ultimo, with 1300 bags bone dust and 053 bags maize. She will be followed immediately by the Elm Grove. Holders of the small supplies of maize now in the market demand 7s. a bushel for sound, fresh samples. Oats arc slightly easier, and may bo quoted at ss. 3d. to ss. Gd. ft bushel. Barley, in first hands, Gs. to Cs. 3d. Provisions have come forward more freely to meet the current demands. We are sorry that we are unable to report more favourably of the market for New Zealand flax. Mr. Buckland’s monthly sale indicated the extent of the depression which late advices have had on this fibre, and the present small production wall no doubt still further diminish ; the small lots quitted at that sale realized only from 9s. Gd. to 17s. per cwt.
