By the arrival of the s s. Lord Ashley we have our Otago files to the 20th inst. A political crisis has occurred, arising according to the account given in the Daily Times of the 18th instant under the following circumstances:— A Ministerial Crisis has occurred, the Executive having resigned in consequence of an adverse vote on the Superintendent’s Indemnity Bill. The Government desired to have the Bill passed before they produced the Estimates. An adjournment of ( the second read ing of the Bill was carried on a motion.of Mr. Vogel’s, and the Executive professing Io consider it rs a want of confidence—which it was not—resigned. .Mr. .Vogel was sent for, but declined attempting to form a Ministry under the circumstances, and it is possible the Executive will resume office.

The same journal of the following day says:— The Ministerial Crisis remains, unsolved Nothing more was. allowed to. transpire at yesterday’s sitting of the Council than this Mr. Vogel has declined to attempt. to form a Ministry, as was stated in the Times of Saturday ; the Dick Ministry is still not good' tempered,' but might be induced to resume work if the supporters of Mr. Vogel’s amendment would admit that they did wrong,' as. well as that they are not in the state qf thewant of confidence” and that “several gentlemen” have been “ sent for ’’ by the Superintendent.
