Auckland Races.
Our readers are generally aware that in consequence of the very unfavorable weather prevailing on Monday and Tuesday,—phsards were posted throughout the town and its vicinity notifying the postponement of tbe ra. ces from Wednesday until the following day, The result showed that this was a most fortunate arrangement, Wednesday proving as unfavorable a day for the sport as its predecessor, whereas yesterday was as fine a day as would be confidently expected on a “ Derby Day” at home, and as could be desired by the numerous visitors attending from all parts. Every available horse, carriage, gig, dog-cart, and other mode of conveyance anneared to have been pressed into early service for the occasion, so that, some time before the ringing of the first saddling bell, the course presented a very gay and animated appearance, The arrangements were altogether excellent, and we are happy to learn that not an accident, or disturbance of the slightest kind, occurred to mar the pleasures of the day, We give a report of the horses running in each race, with the position in which they were placed.
