ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

Te the Editor of the "New Zealand Spectator?' Wellington, October 2, 1849. Sir,— The "We" of the Independent has, in a note in his last number, slated of me that which is not. He says, "O. is too cunning ; he knew, for we informed him,*' &c. This is not true. No one gave me the information there mentioned, and which, if given, would have been untrue. The principal proprietor of that paper, as reported by Dr» Featherston, stated that my letter was omitted in one number of the Independent, when it was forgotten. Dr. Featherston added, that "neither Mr. Fox nor himself had seen the letter previous to its appearance." Still no answer to it. Oh, Mr. Fox, what are you about ! I remain, Sir, Your obedient servant, O.
