M ikekals. — By recent accounts from England, we are given to understand that the Cargoes of copper ore and manganese which iiave been sent to England from this colony have metwjth a ready market. The manganese, we believe (of an inferior quality,) was sold for £6 per ton ; and the copper was reckoned worth £25 per ton, if properly sorted. That which was shipped by Mr. Abercrombie, was not picked or sorted in any manner. It was, nevertheless, so well thought of, that we believe any amount of money would be advanced for the proper working of 'he mine. — Southern (Auckland) Cross. The schooner Three Brothers ran some risk of shipwreck on Sunday last. The master had refused to take a pilot, though the charge was only thirty shillings, and anchored his vessel close on the bar. On Saturday evening, the wind blew strongly from the S.W., and long before low water ill&-vessel was surrounded by breakers. On Sunday morning she parted both her anchors, and ran for the harbour, but missed stays just as she came inside, and went on shore a little above the Wakefield Arms. Fortunately, no very great damage was sustained, and both anchors have been since recovered. Had the vessel been lost, "it would have been solely attributable to the carelessness of the captain, as he was cautioned by the harbour master against the danger of remaining at anchor in such a situation early on Saturday afternoon, and strongly recommended to come within the bar, or run two or three hundred yards farther out into the bay. — 'Nelson Examiner. „,, - A pretty little ( craft* of about thirty tons, nam^d, tfc Ann and Sarah, came over on Monday last frim Massacre Bay, where she has been* biiTft. S>e will get her rigging completed here, and then I i*W a trip to Wellington and.Otago.~<Jffc'<i. , k||Wfc3'he Attnand Sarah brought frflm Massiftan than we have before seen. — Ibid. Tare Bydrud, after leaving Nelson, on her last trip to Mokau, was compelled by stress of weather to put into Port Hardy, where she lay several days. The Sir John Iran&lin, the Oratava, and the Lady of the Lake, were also in Port Hardy, and were detained there nearly three weeks. — Ibid. The Three Brothers is bound to the West Coast on a sea'ing trip.— lbid. !
