For Pet re, per Katharine Johnston*, this afternoon, at four. For Petre, New Plymouth, Auckland and Russell, overland on Monday, at 10 a.m. For Nelson, per Carbon t this afternoon, at four. - For London direct, per Nelson on ,toe 6th proximo. Fur Auckland and the Bay of islands, per / D'ont Know, will close this day at four* J. Macarthy, Deputy Acting Postmaster.
We have received the following letter from Taranaki. It should be stated in expUnt-
tion that there are no bonded stores there and that persons were'obliged to pay duties on all exciseable articles immediately on landing them. The writer of the letter appears to have applied to the Governor (or a remission of the duty on the tobacco and spirits which he had in stock on the Ist October,'and on which he had previously paid the duty because there were no facilities for bonding them. — [Ed.N.Z.S.]
