INSTITUTE OF JOURNALISTS
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Journalists was held at the Press Gallery, Parliamentary Buildings, on Monday. The president (Mr C. W. Earle) was in the chair. The report, which recorded a quiet apd satisfactory'year, was adopted. The president, in moving the adoption, said the greatly improved position of journalists in this State was due to the growth of the papers, the general prosperity of the country, and the scarcity of good journalists. One of the features of the year's work was the closer relations which had been established between the employers and the institute. He expressed regret at thp pending 50tirement of the secretary, Mr T. L. Mills, who was about to leave the city. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr C. W. Earle (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs W. D. Lusty (Auckland), T. L. Mills (Wellington), and G. R. Allen (Christchurch); hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr C. E. Wheeler; hon. auditor, Mr G. H. Schofield.
