BUNNYTHORPE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Last Sunday our Wesleyan Church presented a beautiful appearance, the occasion being a harvest festival. The building was tastefully decorated and the cxnibition of all kinds of fruit and vegetables was a sight worth seeing speaking volumes for the generosity of the donors and the productive qualities of the land in this part. There were also two specimens of splendid corn in sheaves, one of barley presented by Mr Petersen, of Te Tvlafai, and one of oats by Mr-W. Masters, the latter being the finest sample giov/11 in Bunny thoipe. A most eloquent and persuasive sermon was preached by the. Reverend Mr Beggs, and the orchestra and choir, led by Mr -W. Eggleton and Miss Dixon, organist, sang appropriate harvest hymns. Mr Alfred Price took the solo in one of the selections most efficiently. There was a large and appreciative congregation. I have much pleasure in recording that Messrs G. M. Ranson and -Win. Groenhow have been gazetted as .Justices of the Peace, for the Hiwinni district. The appointment of these, two gentlemen is highly popular, both being highly respected residents at Hiwinni. besides being a convenience to the settlers in that part. I am also pleased to hear that the road known as Hc-nagan’s road is being formed from Hiwinni to Stoney Creek road, thus enabling the residents at Hiwinui to reach Palmerston by a much shorter route than at present. Mr G. Hight, the well-known and respected contractor, has the work in hand. We are all very sorry to hear of the severe illness of Mr Charles Bray, Senr., the esteemed engineer to the Oroua County Council, and sincerely trust that after taking a rest from liis usual labours lie will be thoroughly renovated. 1 fear the visit to Bmmytliorpe of Mr Amos, director of the Feilding Technical School, did not meet with the support it deserved, as I hear only 3 applicants applied to attend the classes, but dairying and dressmaking classes are, I believe, to be established here. The members of our rifle club are looking forward to. their next shooting -match, as three valuable prizes are to be competed for, namely, a silver cup presented by Air W. Ward, of Hiwinui,' a gold locket by Mr Eberliard, and silver medal by Mr P. Stevens.
