OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY

PLENTY OF WORK FOR LABOURERS.

DUNEDIN, April 3.

The Acting-Premier made a stoppage at Alexandra this forenoon to receive deputations of co-operatives employed on the Otago Central, who asked that if the work on that line was to stop at Clyde, they should be then transferred to other railway works. Mr Hall-Janes said there was so much work to be done privately and by tho Government that he hoped there would be no need to send the men out of the district.

The Acting-Prime Minister has authorised a sectional survey of th» route of tho Otago Central railway between Clyde and Cromwell, and work will be undertaken possibljr in a month or two.
