Fine weather was experienced for the opening of the Canterbury Coursing Club's meeting to-day, and there was a verv fair attendance. Results:—
New Zealand Waterloo Cup, for 36 dogs at 6 guineas; winner 80 sovs, runner up 20 eovs, third dog 10 sovs, two dogs at £7 10s. four dogs at £4. —First round—J. F. Sibley’s Bugle Call beat F. Biel’s Tutanekai; J. Flynn’s Other Days beat F. Biel’s Gibraltar; H. Goodman's Nine of Diamonds beat J. Hodgkins’s Port Arthur; J. Walsh’s Bucephalus ran a bye, L. Wilson’s Forlorn Hope being withdrawn; R. Young’s Oarsman beat W. Goss’s Content; R. W. Greenslade's Continuance beat W. H. Thomas’s Royal Sport; A. E. Wilton’s Crimson Rambler beat W. Sumpter’s Fog Signal; G. G. Todd’s Reunion beat J. Wfcsterman’s Noble LadyN. Price’s Feu-de-Joie beat W. Anderson’s Rosen evade; J. E. Fitzgerald’s Laburnum beat A. Waterloo Purse, for 18 dogs beaten in first round of Waterloo Cup; winner £lB, runner up £B, third -dog £7, two dogs at £4 each.—Port Arthur beat Tutanekai; Noble Lady beat Royal Sport; Rosebud beat Rotoiti; Flying Ductless beat Lord Hennessy; Sponge Cake and Doughboy were withdrawn. The meeting will be continued to-mor-row, when the second and third runs of the Waterloo Cup will be decided.
