CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST LEADER APPOINTS TRUSTEES.
NEW YORK, April 7
Hoping to defeat her relatives, Mrs Eddy announces that she has appointed as trustees of her “hard earnings’' Messrs Henry Baker (lawyer), McLellan (“Christian Science 4 ’ editor), Forgald, a Magistrate, and H. R. Pen.
Mrs Eddy founded _ the Christian Science Church in 187 G, and in 190 G there were G9l hr. nick churches and 26G societies. The members of the first or mother church in Boston number 40,011. There wai great controversy last year respecting Mrs Eddy’s health, and as to the administration of the finances of the church, which were said to involve <£2,000,000. Mrs Eddy stated that she did not consult a physician, but relied only on God. The reporters on October 13st found her tottering and almost inarticulate.’’ On November 2nd it was announced from New York that “ at the instance of the Christian Scientists of Boston, lawyers are trying to find out what lias become of three million pounds which Mrs Eddy, the head of the church, 1 received, but which is missing.’’ A month ago it was reported that a son of Mrs- Eddy was proceeding against the; trustees of the Christian.
