The Palmerston North A. and P. Association does not consider the Sydney Royal Agricultural Society’s explanation regarding its refusal to pay Mr Luxford’s expenses as a judge to be in any way convincing. The association points out that the Sydney society must have been aware that Australians judging in New Zealand receive out-of-pocket expenses. It is, therefore, the opinion of the association that the society acted in a way that was not only reprehensible, but calculated to mislead. The society’s resolution to pay the future expenses of judges is considered an affirmation that its previous position was wrong in principle. Amazement is expressed at the fact that the Royal Agricultural Society has not yet taken steps to redress what it lias virtually admitted to be an act of discourtesy to an invited guest, if not an act of gross injustice.
