THE PAPAKAIO MURDER

FINDLAY ACQUITTED. RE-ARRESTED AND CONVICTED. DUNEDIN, December 20. After a trial lasting two clays and a half John Fincllay ay as to-day found not guilty of the murder of William Hay Rennie, at Papakaio. on October 3rd. On leaving the Court, Findlay Avas rearrested, charged Avith (on September 2fith, at Oamaru), stealing a bicycle, valued at £lB 10s, the property of oate6, Loivry and Co. He was at once brought before Mr C. C. Graham. S.M., and pleaded guilty to the offence. The Magistrate took into account that accused had been ten Aveaks in g;\ol, waiting for the trial, and sentenced him to fourteen days' imprisonment.
