Mills has received the following communication from the secretary of the Parnell branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation : —Dear Sir, —On the occasion of your voluntary retirement from the high and responsible position of Minister of CueJtonis the president (Mr J. R. Lundon) and members of the Parnell branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation of New Zealand desire me to convey to you their high appreciation of the nobility of character and the generous selfabnegation thus spontaneously evidenced. Your public spirit and devotion to duty during your long term of office will, not readily be forgotten, whilst your unvarying oourtewy and kindly consideration under circumstances often of a most exacting nature have endeared you to all with whom you have in yiour official capacity come into contact. lam desired specially to express the wish that you may long be spared to exercise your energies and your talents for the advancement of our country in the Legislative Halls of the colony. Mr F. R. Ball, who for the past six years has been in the employment of the Wellington branch of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, has severed his connection with that institution, in order to take up the position of accountant for the New Zealand Farmers’ Distribution Company. On Saturday morning Mr Ball’s late confreres on the staff of the A.M.P. Society made him the recipient of a souvenir of their esteem.
