It appears that “the civic Government of Taihape” can only be' carried on at the expense of much heat and personal rancour. ’This is how the local “News” refers to the situation:— The Borough Council is still engaged in civic burlesque. The only profitable result accruing from its mimic deliberations is amusement for those whio look forward with impatience for the report of its farcical ..proceedings. It is time that the ratepayer® made an effort to induce the Council to settle down .seriously to business. As the Mayor , lias proved a -dismal failure, .and incompetent to preside over a corporate body, we incline to the belief that his civic sandglass must be allowed to run • out before the ratepayers may expect <any appreciable .improvement in the conduct of the Council’s business. Mr H. W. Piper, of the Wanganui office of the AI.M.P. Society, has he&a transferred to Wellinatoja.
