KILCHERAN is an exceptionally handsome bay horse, standing 15.3. He is by Kilwarlin (winner of the St. Leger, and half-brother to Bendigo), from Emita (dam of His Lordship and Emotion) by Galopin (winner of the Derby and sire oi ■St. Simon) from Burgundy (half-sister to Merry Hampton—winner of the Derby—and own sister to Gay Hermit, winner of the Goodwood Cup, etc.) by Hermit (winner of the Derby) from Doll Tearsheet (half-sister to Green Sleeves, ' dam of Insulaire, winner of the French Derby) by Broomielaw (Stockwell —Queen Mary) from Mrs Quickly (fourth dam of Omnium—winner of the French Derby, etc., etc. —and half-sister to Aphrodite —winner of the 1000 guineas—and to Vesuvienne—grand dam of Candlemas and St. Blaise, winner of the Derby, and third dam of Matchmaker, Matchbox, Frimaurier, winner of the Grand Prix, and Farfaudet, winner of the French St. Leger). Kilcheran was a brilliant performer in England, winning over >£3ooo in stakes, his best times for six furlongs being lmin 11 4-seec at Brighton, and lmin 12 l-ssec at Manchester. He comes of the same family as those great sires Gladiator, St. Frusquin and Gay Hermit. (Last year in South America, 12 yearlings by Gav Hermit or out of Gay Hermit mares avifc-aged 1600 guineas —a world's record.) Kilcheran, like Flying Fox, is out of a Galopin mare. Besides his owner’s mares, Kilcheran will serve a limited number of approved outside mares. FEE 15 GUINEAS. Stead in 1895; and has taken Ten Firsts and Nine Championship Prizes in the Show Ring. He is by Medallion (Achilles' sire) from Siesta (Welcome Stakes) by Traducer (imp.) from Hammock (imp.) by Orest. Conqueror was easily the best colt of his year, and won the Welcome Stakes in 46 l-ssec, an Australasian record for the distance, four furlongs. He is the sire -of Chivalry, Ability, William 1., etc., and belongs to the same family as Voltigeur (grander© of Galopin), Teddington, Cremome, Saini'-jin, Lord Clifden (sire of Hampton), etc. FEE 8 GUINEAS. ' ff»ot*iiuj% (1899), PORIRUA is a perfectly formed chestnut, standing 16.1, by Seaton Delaval (imp.) from Waitemata (imp.) by Eiridspora (sire of the dam of Nightfall and Noctuiform) from Aorere by Chester from Kaipara (three-quarter sister to the dam of Wallace) by Goldsborough (sire of the dams of Achilles and Trenton.) Porirua won more in stakes than any two-year-old of liis year, winning among other races, the Hastings Stakes, Northern Champagne and North Island Challenge Stakes (beating Cruciform at w.f.a.)
