EDUCATION BOARD.

RESULT OF THE ELECTION. The statutory period of fourteen days after the election of members of the Education Board having ©lapsed yesterday, ballot-papers from the various school committees in the district were opened, and a count was made. This is the first general election of a Board under the amendment to the Education Act of last session, which provides for .representation on the ward system. For the purposes of Wellington, the district was divided into three wards —Wellington City, Manawatu and Hutt, and Wairarapa. Evans, who, however, is an old member of the Board, and is well known in connection with the work of local bodice. He displaces Mr Feist, who offered himself for re-election, but was not returned. A notable feature of the polling in the Wairarapa was the closo fight for first place. The first meeting of the Board will be held on Thursday, the 30th inst.
