Our late baker Mr R, J. Paul, has purchased the Glob© Hotel, Benwiek, and took possession last Thursday. The teachers and children of St. Peter’s Church Sunday School will hold their annual picnic to-morrow at Moetapu. Messrs W. H. Smith and H. M. Reades have received their appointments as Government members of th© Havelock Harbour Board. The date of the first meeting will he fixed by the Governor, The Havelock business places are to close every Thursday, which is to- be the half-holiday, instead of Wednesdays as formerly. Frank Glastonbury and E. Gibbons, pupils of the Canvastown school, have received notice that they have been awarded an Education Board Scholarship. Both hoys were under . thirteen years of age at the date of*the examination. Both are taking advantage of the scholarship.
