WEDDING AT KILBIRNIE.

A charming wedding took place °. n Tuesday, February 27th, at Kilbuni© English Church, the contracting parties being Mr Bertie Mitchell and Miss Kate Barker, eldest daughter of Mrs Barker, and the late W.. W. Barker, . or “The Holme/’ Kilbirnie, and late of Bendigo, Victoria. The bride looked lovely in white silk, trimmed witn Maltese lace, and a rich veil with eoionet of orange blossoms. She camec a shower bouquet, . , The bridesmaids were the two sisters of the bride', Mb** B-Isie and J««° Barker. ivho wore dresses of soft S^y voile with pretty ljat« of - k fiK&TSk S C dafoty‘h>'*°°Uchitfon. They alt carried crooks trimmed with rose oolomod ribbon- and natural flowers of n deeper shade. The mother of the bride was richly dressed in black silk ancl chiffon fichu, and toque with chiffon and plumes. Mrs Cory, the bride’s aunt, was in blue silk voile with handsome toque and feather boa. The mother of the

bridegroom wore black silk, relieved with white, and handsome laoe fichu,; and black chiffon toque with Neapolitan violets. The aunt of the bridegroom looked'elegant in fawn voile with. trim-, ining of tvliite silk and lace and floral toque. / . •

.'The' best man was Mitchell, and the groomsmen were Messrs Will. Barker, Hugh Girdlestone, and Bertie Burton/ The bride’s uncle, Mr Coiry, gave her away, and the Rev. Mr J. McNiclde. performed the ceremony. “The Voice that Breathed o'er Eden” was sung by the choir, and the bridal chorus from Lohengrin and the Wedding March were played by Miss Jeffreys as the. guests left the church. ; Mrs Bertie Mitcheii left hime in a violet cloth dress, with white lacings, and a;becoming whito felt hat with white ostrich plumes. The honeymoon is being spent up the'Wanganui river. A reception was held in the Kilbirnio Hall in the evening, where about two hundred guests were entertained with games and dances till the small hours. Mr Barber proposed the health of the . very popular young couple and eulogised Mrs Barker’s- hospitality to the young people of Kilbirnie.
