NEW ZEALAND COURSING ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of delegates of clubs affiliated to the New Zealand Coursing Associat'on will be held at the Einpire Hotel, Christchurch, on Nov. 6th. •The officers of the Association are: Patron, O'. R. Wise, Esq.; President, R. E. Bannister, E-sq.; Vice-Presidents, H. Lethaby, E'sq., H. J. P'.clc, Esq., C. R. Tapper, Esq., M. C. O’Connell, Esq.; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Harry W. Davies; Affiliated Clubs’ Representatives on the Association. W. 11. Rule (O'amaru), G. H. Lethaby (Dunedin), W. Fox (Canterbury), R. McNab (Akaroa), ML J. Hodgirs (Wairarapa) W. 11. Hankins (Manawatu), J. E. Fitzgerald (Auckland), F. Biel (Hutt Valley). H. W. Davies, (Wellington); Hon Auditors, W. H. Lambert, G. H. Lethaby. The report to be presented by the hqn. secretary is as follows: —In presenting the Second Annual Report and Balance Sheet of the New Zealand Coursing Association,' I must congratulate the Affiliated clubs on the prosperous and successful seaspn just past. Since presenting the last report four clubs have been inaugurated and affiiliated with the Association, viz.: Black’s Plumpton C.C., Canterbury C.C., Manawatu C.C., and West Coast C.C. Two other clubs have been formed and will no doubt be foxmd in active operation next season, viz., Timaru and Martinborough. The Auckland C.C. have not held any coursing meetings during the season past, but have now an enclosure stocked, and will start operation early next season.- The Association have dealt with many matters during the past year affecting disputes between owners and clubs, all of which have been amicably settled. It is to be regretted that occasions have again arisen to necessitate owners being fined for impugning the Judge, two cases having been dealt with, the offenders being fined £5 each. The Rule of the Association in alloting the season’s fixtures has worked very well. In no instance have two meetings clashed. The work of Registration has gone steadily on and the number of litters registered show a marked increase. Sixty-one Litters have been registered during the past year as against 44 in 1904. The number of whelps in the Litters total 371. 211 names have been allotted and £36 has been received in Registration fees. The Waterloo Cup was again run by the Dunedin C.C., hut it has been thought that the event should be made a National one, and endeavours are to be made by the Association to run a Waterloo Cup under its auspices during the 1906 season, when it is hoped that the New Zealand Waterloo Cup will once more be brought into prominence. It has been specially noticeable during the past season for the number of valuable trophies g : ven by patrons of the sport to the different clubs for competition, and the thanks and good wishes of the Asociafion are specially due to the many gentlemen who have donated trophies and added money that certainly has given the sport a decided impetus. It is to be regretted that Hon. Secs, of Affiliated Clubs have neglected to inform the Association of the amount paid away in stakes by their clubs during the season, and I am unable, therefore, to state the total stake money disbursed in New Zealand this season. The only returns I have are as follows:—Oamaru C.C. held three meetings and paid away <£32B; Wellington C.C. held four meeting® and paid ,£270; Manawatu C.C held three meetings and paid <£ll4; Canterbury C.C. held two meetings and paid <£3s. An important matter has been discussed by the Association during the year on the initiative of the Canterbury C.C., and the following was added to the Registration Rule : That in registering litters of whelps the endorsement of the owner of the sire be necessary -before the registration be granted. Also that some person approved by the Association, preferably the Secretary of a Coursing Club in the district, see the litter before registration. The balance sheet shows that the receipts from all sources amounted to <£ss 15s 3d, being made up of registrations, <£36, subscriptions from affiliated club®, <£lß 18s, and sale® of rules and registers, 17s 3d. The disbursements amounted to £27 Os 7d, leaving a credit balance of £2B 14s Bd. The club has assets valued at <£7s 13s Id. and no liabilities.
