\ When the Premier was at Martinborough on the 16th inst., a resident suggested to him that a railway to Martinborough would be beneficial. “ I think it would tend to kill the place,” said Mr Seddon. “Places that are isolated, with good roads, are better off. The railway takes trade away from the town.” “But if Martinborough were th© terminus, the railway might be good.” —The Premier quoted Grey town as a terminus, and the subject was dropped. Apropos of the condition of Greytown, a contemporary remarks:— “ Greytown is the place where the farmer’s wife buys Califoriari fruit from the Chow. This is a great farming country! Old spuds 3d per lb—four spuds for sixpence ! Go on the land* vounu man! ;:
