Mr T. W. Kirk, Government Biologist, -has already liad news from Auckland which shows that some of the new S citato crop, is: hadly affected with the isease that did so much damage last year.
In 1894 the Kingston Government of South Australia,, to relieve the labour faarket, formed eleven village settlements on the Murray river and two elsewhere. They were maintained exclusively by loan money, and hare cost the country £IOO,OOO. Now they are all dead hut four-. “Quite recently,”' fays the “Register,” “Payap and Mooook have been shut up and allotted to -■ good men.” Two of the remainder are in'a fairly sound condition. !
