An evidence of the **up-ateness’ 3 of the Japanese is - afforded by the “Monthly Report” of the Yokohama Chamber of Commerce, ef which the June issue has been sent to this office. This is a bulky illustrated periodical—the number before us containing about forty pages in English and sixty-four in Japanese characters. The contents include, in addition to statistical matter, quotations of stocks, bonds, and produce, a number of articles on subjects* oh interest to the commercial t*pmmunity. such as “The China-Japan Trade,” “Korean and Manchurian Affairs, “The Money Market,” “Dock Accommodation in Yokohama,” “Japan and t/h® Liege EHiibition,” etc.
