Mr Henry Sample, son of Mr Alexander Sample, of Wellington, was admitted in June last to the freedom of Berwick-on-Tweed. in Northumberland, England. Mr Sample’s grandfather, the late Captain Sample, was well known to Berwick people three generations ago, when the sea service between that town and London was in full swing, and bfore the advent of the “iron horse.” Mr Henry Sample (who was born in Wellington) and his father have been visiting Berwick, the latter viewing again the scenes of his youthful days, and the former gaining his first impressions of the place where his ancestors lived*
