THE ZETGLER EXPEDITION. RESCUED BY THE TERRA NOVA. CHRISTIANIA, August 11. M. Fiala and the other members of the Zeigler expedition, which set out in June, 1903 ? to endeavour to determine the position of the north magnetic pole, were rescued at Franz Josef Land by the Terra Nova, commanded by Captain Kjeldsen. The expedition has arrived at Honningsvag, Norway. M. Fiala’s ship, the America, was crushed by ice, and foundered at Neplitz Bay, 1904.

Three attempts to reach high latitude failed. The highest point reached by M. Fiala was 83 degrees 13 minutes.
