THE LATE MR G. H. LUXFORD. An old and highly esteemed resident of Wellington. Mr G. H. Luxford died on April 29 at his residence in Upper Willis street. Mr Luxford, who arrived by one of the first ships, the Adelaide, in 1840, was born at Eastbourne, Sussex, and was among the first pioneers to settle in Wellington. The deceased gentleman served in the N. Z. Militia at the time of the Maori War, and took an active part in the capture of Te Ruaparaha. At the time of his death, Mr Luxford held large landed interests in the neighbourhood of Palmerston North, and did a great deal to develop the country districts
