WAIHI, May 4.

As a sequel to tlie riotous behaviour in a Waihi street on Saturday night last, six young men—James Graham, Ernest Jenkins, Woodward, O’Brien, Payne, and \v. Johns—were charged at me Police Court to-day with wilfully obstructing me police while in the execution of duty. Evidence for the defence of Graham was that he h

assisted to keep the crowd back. Evidence for the prosecution was that he wilfully obstructed the police. After lengthy evidence occupying the -whole day, tiie Bench imposed a fine of a-w, with costs. Counsel appearing for four of tho others, on the Court resuming this evening, explained that after hearing the expression of opinion of the Bench, they had advised accused to plead guilty. Each was lined £5. T sixtli case, William Johns’s, is being defended.
